Eastham -v- Garvins LLP : refund for client of £900 from legal fees deducted following a road traffic accident

Miss.Eastham was involved in a road traffic accident in October 2015 and instructed Garvins Law, who obtained compensation for them via the RTA portal, but deducted fees of £900 from her damages when the claims settled in around June 2016.

Miss.Eastham instructed us in October 2018 and, having obtained copies of relevant papers from Garvins along with a "statute bill" via an application under s.68 Solicitors Act 1974, proceedings for assessment of their fees were issued in January 2019 under s.70 Solicitors Act 1974.

Within a short space of time we have been able to resolve the matter with Garvins refunding a total of £900 and paying Miss.Eastham's costs of the proceedings.
