Manjit Gill -v- Lexton Law Solicitors
Mr.Gill had instructed Lexton Law, a firm of solicitors in Coventry, in relation to some litigation in which he had become involved, along with associated conveyancing work. At the end of the case and on receiving the solicitors' bill he felt that he had been overcharged and instructed Checkmylegalfees.
He had concerns over three invoices totalling £9,217 for conveyancing transactions and an invoice for £31,32.87 for work done in the litigation. The total of the invoices was £40,540.87.
Proceedings for assessment under the Solicitors Act were issued in the Senior Courts Costs Office in November 2015 and, at a hearing on 19th July, agreement was reached to reduce the invoices to £21,500, a saving of £19,040.87. The solicitors were ordered to pay the costs of the proceedings.
We have recovered a substantial sum for Mr.Gill and, because we act on a "no win, no fee" basis, the whole process has not cost him a penny.
If you feel that you have been overcharged, or have had legal fees deducted from a compensation claim, please get in touch. We will check your fees for free and, if we agree that you have been overcharged, will act on a "no-win no fee" basis.
