Christopher Shenton v Harris Fowler Solicitors : Former client recoups £1,300.00

A former Client of Somerset based Harris Fowler Solicitors has been returned £1300.00 after his former Solicitors miscalculated the amount they should have deducted from his damages, following a successful personal injury compensation claim.

Mr Shenton was involved in an accident at work and was awarded £22,000 in gross compensation as a result of his injuries.

After deductions of benefits due repayable to the Compensation Recovery Unit, Mr Shenton was left with £16,574.31.

Harris Fowler deducted a further £5500.00 from his compensation, exactly 25% of Mr Shenton's compensation as a contribution towards their costs and success fee.

Mr Shenton instructed Checkmylegalfees.com in March 2020 to assess his legal fees and identify any potential overcharge made by Harris Fowler.

We were supplied with comprehensive documentation and a final statute bill from Harris Fowler, which enabled us to identify that a maximum of £4,143.00 should have been deducted from Mr Shenton's compensation in respect of their costs.

After making an offer to Harris Fowler to refund Mr Shenton £1356.00, Harris Fowler did agree to pay Mr Shenton back the difference between what was deducted from his damages and ultimately what should have been deducted.

I got in touch with Checkmylegalfees.com after I saw that they could possibly help me to claim money back from my former solicitor that deducted 25% from my compensation. I spoke to Ben who has been working on the claim on my behalf. I have now received a refund from my former solicitor. I would highly recommend Checkmylegalfees.com if you need to check your legal fees. They were very helpful and completed my claim within six months.
