Brian Mavor v Thorneycroft Solicitors : Refund of £890.00 in Legal Fees from Macclesfield Personal Injury Firm
I can honestly say that Checkmylegalfees.com are a revelation in the world of claims. I gave them a try after reading an article in the Daily Mail. Thank god I did as I got back nearly £900 in fees from my accident claim. Communication by email and phone was excellent. Friendly to talk to and easy to use. From my first contact in march I just got my money today in august. Brilliant time span for a claim payout.
Brian Mavor, 5th August 2020
Mr Mavor of Tonbridge, Kent, instructed Checkmylegalfees.com in March 2020 to investigate the possibility that he had been overcharged by his previous Solicitors, Thorneycrofts Solicitors based in Macclesfield, who had dealt with a road traffic accident compensation claim for him.
Mr Mavor provided us with a bundle of documents in his possession showing how much his road traffic accident claim had settled for and how much he received after deductions for legal fees.
In this road traffic accident claim, settlement was achieved in the sum of £4743.70. After deductions for legal fees and an After the Event Insurance premium, Mr Mavor received £3169.49 representing 66% of his overall award.
We subsequently wrote to Thorneycrofts Solicitors requesting their final statute bill to show the full breakdown of charges made to Mr Mavor in pursuit of his claim.
Thorneycrofts then directly corresponded with Mr Mavor serving their statute bill, instead of serving it upon Checkmylegalfees.com as the legal representative [see our article below, for guidance on what to do is this has happened to you]
Court proceedings were then issued for an assessment by the Court of Mr Mavor's statute bill.
Thorneycrofts contacted us on 27th July 2020 offering to make a repayment to Mr Mavor of £864.03. We argued that applying a success fee of 15% would allow a total refund of £894.03. Settlement was subsequently achieved in the sum of £894.03 plus the legal costs involved in representing Mr Mavor.
