Geoff Farmer

Geoff joined Checkmylegalfees.com as a part time consultant on 1st August 2020 and is acknowledged as a legal costs expert, with over 40 years' experience in the legal profession and more than 35 years in dealing with legal costs.

He is dual qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive and as a Costs Lawyer specialising in high value costs claims arising from clinical negligence actions and is experienced in mediating high value costs disputes. In 2016 Geoff joined The Medical Protection Society in Leeds as a consultant to deal with high value cases representing paying parties.

Geoff specialises in representing paying parties. He has acted, and been panel member for:

• Treasury Solicitor
• Allianz
• Aviva
• BT
• Royal Mail

He has also represented and advised other bodies including Sheffield City Council and Leicestershire County Council.

An experienced advocate, Geoff has appeared in House of Lords, the Senior Courts Costs Office and in Courts throughout England and Wales

He is a tutor and examiner with ACL Training, a past Council Member of ALCD and an Accredited Costs Lawyer with Costs Lawyers Standards Board since 2011.


In 2018 he was appointed as End Point Assessor by CILEX Law School and later as Lead End point Assessor (interviews ) in relation to the CILEX paralegal qualification.


He is now acting as liaison to the internal Costs Team at The Medical Protection Society concerning their participation in a Mediation Pilot Scheme including providing internal training .

Geoff continues his mediation practice both at Normanton Chambers, 218 Strand, London and Clerksroom
